A consumer home-security company runs its connected-home-security platform on AWS — sensors, cameras, and connected hardware following the IoT Sense/Analyze/Act pattern, with cloud monitoring and alerting — managed day-to-day by VeUP.

The challenge

The customer puts security hardware in people's homes, backed by a cloud platform for monitoring and alerting. A consumer security product leaves no room for missed events: it demands reliable event delivery and strict consumer-data privacy as the install base grows.

The solution

A connected-device platform on AWS built around the IoT Sense/Analyze/Act loop: home-security devices sense property and environment state and events, the cloud analyzes them, and the platform acts with timely monitoring and alerting. VeUP operates the estate, with AWS IAM, Amazon CloudWatch, and AWS CloudTrail underpinning access control and observability. The deeper service-level and protocol detail stays in the customer's own AWS tenant.

Architecture

The customer's connected-device platform, from the home to the alert. The services shown are the ones running in production; finer component-level detail stays in the customer's own AWS tenant.

Where it started

Starting point
A connected-device fleet in the home

Property and environment sensors, home-security cameras, and broader connected hardware — continuous local sensing feeding the event stream toward cloud ingestion.

Driver
Reliability at a growing install base

A consumer security product demands reliable event delivery as the active install base grows.

Constraint
Consumer-data privacy

Strict consumer-data privacy requirements govern the platform as install base scales.

Not a migration engagement — the device fleet and AWS estate were already in production; this is the operating context the architecture serves.

Lessons & continuationFor a consumer security IoT product, event-delivery reliability and consumer-data privacy are first-order controls; the Sense/Analyze/Act loop must keep alerting timely as the install base scales.
